Common AP Lang Prompts
Common AP Lang PromptsAP Lang prompts are among the most important parts of creating a test. This is because they can determine what kind of tests a student has to take and how much the student's score will be. Of course, there are other factors that a student has to consider when creating a test, but some of the main factors are of importance to make sure that the student will have an easier time taking a test and scoring higher on the test. Before you create your test, ask yourself what kind of questions it should include. What is the purpose of the quiz? Who is the target audience?Does the student like science and math? Does the student prefer history and English? How many times does the student need to answer each question? Answers to these questions can help you decide which topic of study will be covered in the quiz.It is also important for you to know if the student likes writing essays. If so, then you should include in the test some sort of essay prompt. Usually, the essay pr ompt contains sentences or paragraphs from the student's essay.Ask your student to write a sample essay on some interesting topic. Then have him/her read the sample and answer questions about it. The student can also write an essay on the subject.Next, use this sample to see if the student can put together the sentence structure properly. Usually, this exercise requires only one or two questions. Just as an example, you ask the student to do some research and write a report about birds.Lastly, determine whether the student needs to improve their grammar. There is AP English Language Proficiency Tests that is designed for students who may have problems with grammar. Ask the student to answer some questions about the sentence structure. Also, ask the student to write a short essay on a topic related to the English language. The best thing to do to determine what kind of questions to include in a prompt is to talk to your student about their preferences. Although this can be somewhat su bjective, it can be done. The process of finding out what a student wants is known as 'finding out what the student is good at.'
